"I have taken weekly clarinet lessons under Joanne Kim for 10 years straight, and I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. Dr. Kim is all that a student could need: professional, experienced, and incredibly skilled at playing and teaching the clarinet; able to adapt her teachings to the needs and skill level of any student; and supportive of her students’ musical endeavours. On top of all this, she is very kind and friendly, and always full of enthusiasm! With less experienced players, she nails the building blocks of clarinet, and as her students become more advanced, she helps expand their musicianship through solo repertoire, sight-reading exercises, and music theory. She introduced me to amazing solo pieces like Weber’s Gran Duo Concertant and Navarro’s Concerto II, and helped me prepare for auditions. I look forward to my lesson with her every week, and I recommend anyone that needs a teacher, a mentor, or just someone to play music with, to try taking a lesson from Dr. Kim."
